I’m not superstitious.
I walk under ladders, I open umbrellas inside, and I really quite like black cats.
So the idea that Paul and I couldn’t see each other before the wedding just made no sense to me. Obviously, on our wedding day, I want him to see me after I have gone through the ‘beautification’ process, not midway through. But, I definitely want to see him before our ceremony. I know our wedding day will be full on and with 100 guests or more expected to be there, I don’t see Paul and I getting a great deal of time ‘together’. I think the idea of seeing each other just before the ceremony, to have a chance for a little ‘us’ time will be special. A chance for us to take it all in and have a private moment for ourselves, before our very public display of love for each other.
With less than 7 months to go I have been thinking a lot more about the day. How I want it to look and feel.
There are quite a few things I have planned to do myself, including (but not limited to) the decorations, the invitations, mine and my bridesmaids bouquets and the boys boutonnieres. The more I think about all these things, the more I know I need to get started as soon as possible…free weekends? Not anymore!
My two main reasons for wanting to do all of these things is, firstly, to save myself some money. And, secondly, so that I can add as much of mine and Paul’s personalities into the day as possible. I’m sure I will be doing many a trial run, so will happily share tips and pointers on all the things that worked out well (and all those that failed miserably!).
And finally, with deposits paid, I can reveal the location of our reception…drum roll please…we will be partying on down at St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School! For those who know it, I know you’ll agree it has one of the best views of the Brisbane River and City. For those who don’t, you’ll just have to wait till the wedding day :-)
Oh and as a last little note…I found my shoes!! No dress as yet, but I’m sure that won’t be too far off. I hope you love them as much as I do!
