The Photobooth People in Western Australia!

Last week we were lucky enough to take one of our booths on one of the longest direct journeys in mainland Oz. Our mantra of ‘have booth will travel’ certainly moved up a whole other notch. So how far did our travelling booth travel? Well…..let’s see…. 4,790kms give or take…and that was just the one-way journey!

Excited is an understatement – when we were approached to go we loved the idea and couldn’t say yes quick enough. Our mission? To photograph the people of Port Hedland, and to help remind them how beautiful their part of Australia is. The grand occasion was the opening of The Courthouse Gallery’s latest photographic exhibition ‘I Took the Time to Look’ which showcased local talent and offered a unique perspective on life in north-western WA. So off we went, booth via truck, us via plane, and big giddy grins on our faces.

We met such a great bunch of people (Hi Kate, Carolyn & Andre!) and in less than 24 hours were made to feel so welcome that we really think we could live there. Port Hedland is such a small and remote place, and yet sooo Australian in every sense. We felt so blessed to have made the journey for something that was so much fun.

You know what else was funny – we were snapped by the Google car as we were setting up for the exhibition – crazy huh? A car that takes photos, taking photos of a portable photobooth taking photos of photographers at a photo exhibition. …..just think about that for a minute :-)
