We’ve been doing this for a while….photoboothing that is. Long before Matt from Canada and Nikki from Australia became Matt and Nikki from Brisbane, we had both started our own separate love affairs with these beautiful old memory makers. Often found in the most unusual places (a cowboy bar in Mexico, a cafe in Hanoi) and sometimes a bit worse for wear, these small and cramped but magical machines have left us with some very treasured memories. Sadly, I also remember gazing from afar at these beauties, while backpacking around North America, or different parts of asia, and thinking I really must save my last few dollars for food. How I had my priorities so wrong I will never understand!
So we thought we’d share one of our favourites with you. What we love about this picture is actually what it’s missing. This picture was taken in Toronto, Canada when Matt and three of his buddies went on a roadtrip to catch some hockey (or ice hockey for all us Aussies…). Matt and the boys jumped in an old booth, each taking turns to have one shot taken. Then they tore the strip apart and shared out the photos - you can still see the rips on the top and bottom. Cool huh?
We’ve also been thinking about some other projects, and a different spin on this love affair. We’ve been thinking about jumping in a booth every day for a year; something like, ‘A year in the life of Matt, Nikki and a Photobooth’ or, even having a birthday booth session every year for the rest of our lives (or for as long as we can manage!). Anyway we’ll keep you posted, but for now, check out the very dashing Matt, circa 1997….
